Villagers foil police bid to arrest Hurriyat activist; Clashes erupt

Clashes erupted in Nadihal village after the residents stopped a police team that had gone to arrest a Hurriyat activist. According to reports reaching to The Varmul Post, police had gone there to arrest Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar a Hurriyat activist. This alerted the villagers who came on roads to stop the goverenment forces.
Police, in order to push back the protesters, police fired some tear smoke shells after they came under heavy stone pelting. However, no injuries were reported immediately.
Police refuted the arrest claims and said they had information about the presence of militants there and it’s normal there now.
