Jailed for 2 years under PSA, militant slain 3 months after release

Riyaz Ahmed Dar, 22-year-old youth was among the two slain militants killed early Friday morning at Drusso village in Sopore outskirts of Baramulla district.


Dar was recently released by police after spending two years in jail under Public Safety Act. He was arrested on charges of stone pelting.


After his release from jail earlier this year, Riyaz went missing and a missing report was lodged by family on July 18, 2018.


Riyaz Ahmad, according to a top police official joined militant outfit Al-Badr in July, 2018 after his release from jail.


A resident of Naseerabad Sopore, Riyaz Ahmad was the lone son of his family. He is survived by a sister and old age parents.
