Open Mic Baramulla: Literary event organised by young poets, storytellers and artists

A literary event was organized Thursday at Baramulla, in an initiative to give the young writers and poets of North Kashmir a chance to come forward and share their ideas.


Renowned poet Hassan Anzar, short story writer and poet G.M Mahir, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Mohammad Mustafa were present on the occasion besides a number of students from various schools. The literary event was organized by young and energetic budding poet of Sopore Aiman Peer and event manager Tabiya Khan, at fast food centre- Lazeezo at Baramulla. Aiman Peer’s first book- a collection of poetry will be released soon.


Young and budding writers, poets from various places of Baramulla district participated in the event and shared their work before an enthusiastic audience.


The event included prose and poetry reading, storytelling, music performances, writer’s interaction, and short story telling.


Aiman Peer, the oragniser of the program said that the open mic event at Baramulla was an initiative to give the young writers a chance to come forward and share their pieces with the audience.


“Since no such events are being organized in the town, so we thought that it is the high time for us, being writers, to take a stand and bring forth the talent that lurks in the shadow,” Aiman said.


G M Mahir read his best two short stories; Urdu short story ‘Ibn e Maryam’ and Kashmiri short story ‘Wasaan Oshh Daar-e-Jiggar’ amid applauses from the audience.
