Suspected militants Tuesday evening appeared near the grave of slain associate, killed in a road accident, and offered gun salute at Brath Kalan Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports from village Brath Kalan said that militants appeared near grave of slain militant Owais Bashir Mir at around 8 in the evening on Tuesday and fired a volley of bullets in the air as a form of gun salute at Brath Kalan Sopore.
Reports said that scores of youth poured on streets and shouted slogans in favor of Owais, freedom and Pakistan soon after the gun salute offered by militants.
Owaise Ahmed Mir 24, son of Bashir Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan in Sopore was killed in a road accident along with Lashkar commander Chota Dujana of Pakistan yesterday at Warpora Sopore.
Both militants died when the motorcycle they were riding skidded off the road near Warpora Sopore.
A top police official said that they received information about few gunshots in the village.
“There were few gunshots at around 8 in the evening. We are investigating the matter,” he said.
Meanwhile soon after militants offered gun salute to their associate, reportedly whole area has been sealed by security forces.
Owais was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Brath Sopore on Monday evening amid pro freedom and pro Pakistan slogans while as Lashkar Commander was buried secretly at Gauntmulla Baramulla Tuesday evening.
