Hizb recruiter arrested by Baramulla police

Baramulla police Wednesday claimed arrest of OGW (over ground worker) Ishtiaq Ahmed Wani. Police claims Wani was behind motivating and instigating young boys to join militant ranks.

Ishtiyaq Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmed Wani, a resident of Goushbugh Pattan, according to police was at large and wanted for motivating and instigating young boys of Pattan and Palhallan area to join Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit.

In a press statement Baramulla police said that due to continuous anti-militancy operations by security agencies, most of the active militants in northern Kashmir have been neutralized forcing the outfit to accelerate the recruitment process in this area.

“Baramulla Police saved around 10 boys meant to be inducted in terror ranks from the clutches of militants and were handed over to parents. Out of these ten, four boys were motivated by the Ishtiyaq to join militant ranks of HM outfit,” the statement reads.

A case FIR No 165 /2017 under sections of 13 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and sec 506 RPC has been registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been taken up.
