Films on climate change by Kashmiri filmmakers bag awards in Kolkata

Kashmir based two science films on Environment and Climate change bagged Bronze Beaver and Special Jury Film Awards At 7th SNFFC National Science Film Festival & Competition By Viyan Prasar, Department Of Science and Technology, GOI, in Kolkata. The festival is partened by UN, France, ILEADS, UK, Russia, Raja Sabha TV & Doordarshan.

 

Global Warning – Kashmir Chapter by Jalal Ud Din Baba, film on climate change, bagged Special Jury Award and Don’t Burn Leaves by Er. Abdul Rashid of EMMRC Srinagar bagged Bronze Beaver Award for his film. The documentary films were hailed for their storyline, treatment and the narrative. the films have been appreciated as benchmark of research, science communication and environment awareness tool.

 

Films were selected by a jury of eminent filmmakers, professors, scientists, media professionals like Prof. Partha S. Ghose former Chairman of Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute, Kolkata (Chairman National Jury), Reena Mohan Eminent Filmmaker, Award Winning filmmakers Arun Chadha, Smriti Nevatia, Ranu Ghose and Anwar Jamal. Film & media studies associated personalities Prof. Amaresh Chakrabarti, Prof. Shambhunath Singh, Prof. Syamal Chakrabarti, and country’s top notch Scientists Dr. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava (Dy. Dir. CSIR, Lucknow) and other Literary Luminaries.

 

In a glittering ceremony attended by more that 300 delegates, media men and filmmakers across the India at a full packed Birla Industrial Museum Auditorium, Gurusaday Dutta Road Kolkata, the awards were presented by the Bollywood film director Madhur Bhandarkar.
