Government owned telecommunication company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) telephony and internet services are down from last two days in parts of North Kashmir incurring losses to the traders, students and business men whose business has been hit by non-availability of mobile and internet services.

BSNL telephony and internet services are not available in Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara and adjoining areas from last two days, which has badly affected the communication system in parts of North Kashmir.

Dozens of customers were seen outside BSNL office at Baramulla asking reasons for non availability of services. They accused BSNL of providing poor services.

“The non availability of internet and telephone services incur losses to our business. Our business is badly hit by this,” they said.

While confirming that telephone and internet services are non available in parts of North Kashmir, an official at BSNL office Baramulla said that due to various cuts in the OFC cable at Pattan, whole services to residents of North Kashmir have been affected.

“We are working on it from last 15 hours as due to snow and lodging of excessive waters along roadsides, the repairment of OFC cable will take time. But we assure you that it will be done within minimum possible time and services will be provided to our customers without any delay,” the official said.
