In a welcome step ARTO Baramulla/Kupwara has started issuing online learner’s driving licence to applicants in the area.
Making it a stress free job, ARTO Baramulla/Kupwara, Jamsheed Chowdary Tuesday said that we witness serpentine queues everyday outside our office which creates huge problem both for the applicants and employees at our office, so we have started issuing online licenses.
“Anybody seeking to get a learner’s driver licence in Baramulla and Kupwara districts can do so through the internet now. There is no need to come to our office and spend time waiting for your number. Just fill an online form and you are done,” Jamsheed told The Varmul Post.
He said that the facility aims at facilitating people to get new driving learner’s licence online. The applicants can submit their applications online on the website http/parivahan.nic.in. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has been facilitating computerization of more than 1000 Road Transport Offices (RTOs) across the country. RTOs issue Registration Certificate (RC) & Driving License (DL) that are valid across the country.
“After filing the applications online and uploading required documents, the applicants can approach our office with relevant printed documents in support of their particulars. We are also mulling to tie up with J&K bank, so that applicants can make the online payments also, which will make the process more easier,” Jamsheed added.
ARTO Baramulla/Kupwara also plans to launch an awareness drive in the area to provide vital information to applicants about the process of obtaining the online learners driving license.
